Interactive Self-Discovery Game Prototype
MindMirrors is a cooperative, exploratory social game designed to facilitate introspective self-discovery, symbolic puzzle-solving, and meaningful interpersonal interaction. Built on a unique, quantum-inspired energy system, MindMirrors personalizes each player’s journey by mapping psychological traits into a responsive 3D world, where users uncover aspects of their persona through interactive dialogue and adaptive narrative pathways.

The experience takes place within procedurally generated puzzle environments that evolve based on player input. These symbolic worlds are shaped by user psychology—visually influenced through color, spatial logic, and thematic modeling. As players move through these dynamic spaces, the system adjusts in response to choices and behavior, creating a highly personalized and reflective experience.
At the core of the gameplay is an interaction model where players exchange “gifts”—metaphorical insights that affect both their own journey and their partner’s. Real-time prompts and mirrored responses guide players toward deeper self-reflection, while branching narrative structures adapt the flow and tone of the experience to match emergent traits and decisions.

MindMirrors was developed in Django and React.js and deployed as a cross-platform prototype. A custom logic and content system—built on top of the FreeMind .mm mind map format—allowed designers to author branching psychological journeys using a visual, code-free interface. Open-ended input was stored as symbolic variables, which could be recalled later in the session to personalize dialogue and create emotional continuity. Content was version-controlled and hosted via Google Drive, enabling live updates and collaborative editing without rebuilding the application. Real-time multiplayer functionality was supported using Firebase and Google Cloud, with encrypted, anonymized data handling to ensure user privacy and safety.
Explore, Reflect, Connect – A Journey Through Your Digital Self
Though it did not implement machine learning or generative AI, MindMirrors laid early groundwork for adaptive interaction by exploring symbolic modeling, player memory, and narrative logic as tools for personalization. It was conceived not as a commercial game, but as a systems experiment—a prototype for how digital experiences might hold up a mirror to the human mind, gently and intelligently, using the tools available at the time.
MindMirrors remains a foundational project in our ongoing exploration of reflective systems, psychological storytelling, and the emotional potential of interactive design.
